One question for now:
Will there we “drop off” boxes/bags for each rider at some of the stops? I’m imagining most people will wear arm/leg warmers and maybe even a vest at the start, since it’s chilly at 6am… but they’ll want to get rid of it all by 8 or 9am.
Yes, you can leave your discarded clothing at the ride stops in Carson, Genoa and Gardnerville. We’ll have bags, but please put your name on all items. Items will be available for pick up at Bowers Mansion through the end of ride day. Any items not picked up will be held for two weeks at Nevada Rubber Stamp in Reno and then donated to a local bike charity.
Has the start time for the 10 mile race been finalized?
Yes. These are the finalized times.
100 Mile: 6:30 a.m-7:30 a.m. (must leave by 7:30 a.m.)
50 Mile: 7:30a-9:30 a.m. (must leave by 9:30 a.m.)
10 Mile: 10-11 a.m. (must leave by 11:00 a.m.)
You’re right, cyclists are foodies. The food section is a bit vague. So, what type of snacks and lunch can we expect?
We’re still finalizing food as some is dependent on what’s in harvest. For the post ride barbecue, I can tell you we have potatoes from Winnemucca Farms, onions from Peri and Sons Farms in Yerington, Nevada beef, a Grow For Me Sustainable Farm local pig and a local lamb. We’ll also be serving local and natural beer, wine and kombucha from Kombucha Botanica. In addition to the usual ride stop fare of fruit, energy bars, potatoes, pretzels, we’ve got gluten free cookies from Absolutely Michelle’s and chocolate covered sunflower seeds from local Kimmie Candy. Food tables at the ride stops will be manned by culinary students from different programs in the area. We’ve given them some epicurean license to show us what they can do.
My friend and I have already registered for the event and later read that there’s a check-in at Great Basin Bicycles on Saturday. Unfortunately, she has to work. Is it possible for me to check her in or can she check-in the day of the race? Thanks for your help.
Yes, she can check-in the day of the race. While we commend you for helping her out, we do need her live and in person to sign the release form. For your (and her) convenience, check-in will open at 5:30am on ride day.
Will we be ok using our mountain bikes for the 10 mile ride with our family? Will there be snack stops for the kids on the 10 mile ride? Is there a family registration rate or children 5 and under rate. We have 3 kids and two adults. Is there water fill up stations on the 10 mile route too? What time is the bbq? Thanks for your help. Dawn in Reno
Yes, mountain bikes will be fine. They tend to be a little heavier than a road bike so it takes a little more energy but you sound young and healthy, so should be no problem. (Will probably ensure the kids sleep very well that night!) There are no ride stops on the 10 mile so no food or water on the route. There will be continental breakfast at Bowers before the ride and snacks available before the BBQ starts…so have them fill up before you start riding. Riders will get a water bottle for their bikes…but I can’t remember if kids bikes have a water bottle cage or not. You may want to check-cages are pretty inexpensive and any bike shop can install if you don’t have a handy person in the family. (Let us know if they can’t they can’t be installed on a kid’s bike and we’ll look at Plan B).
Still finalizing the BBQ start time but it’ll be around 11:30-12ish. Will publish as soon as we confirm with the chef.
Kids 5 and under free, 6-10 yrs riding the 10 miler, $15 each.
If I want to confirm my registration how do I do that?
Normally that would be via active.com – if you signed up that way. Posting to the website, emailing, or calling are also good options. We are all volunteers but we try to be as available and responsive as possible.
active.com is not letting me sign in to confirm I registered for this event, do you have a list of registered cyclists that you can check on your end? I signed up for the 50 mi in June
We do have a list and if you registered on 6/20 you are on our list. I apologize for the difficulty you are having with Active.com – we are working with them to improve this.
Is the 10 mile ride a “kid friendly” ride? Will traffic be controlled for this section? any info for a 9 year old solo ride, thanks
We want the 10 mile to be as family friendly as possible – we ask that all minors riding be accompanied by an adult. The ride is clear marked and it is a low traffic road on a Sunday – but we do not have traffic controls in place. Riders will have to share the road with what traffic there is.
Is there a wait-list for folks who want to register late? I’m sure you will have cancellations, etc, and I’d love a spot if one became available. Thanks!
hello, I ordered an XL bike jersey about 3-4 weeks ago through the edible pedal website. can i pick it up on the morning of the race or do I need to go to Great Basin bike shop on Sat?
You can pick it up either today or tomorrow. See you then!
Will it be possible to register the day of the ride or do I have to pre-register?
A group of us are registered for the 50 mile ride. Some in our group believe the BBQ to be included in our initial registration, whereas others in our group believe additional BBQ tickets need to be purchased. Can you please clarify?
Thank you for riding with us. A BBQ and a drink ticket are included in your registration.
HI – we are signing up for the 50 and 10 mile rides. We want to buy 2 Women’s Medium jerseys – you seem to be out. How can we get 2 Mediums? thanks.
And, when is the cutoff to signup for the above?
are bike trailers allowed? thanks.
Yes. All sorts of biking equipment and styles are welcome. Have Fun
Looking for information regarding 2013 pick-up of goodies and registration stuff.
Where, when…..????
Please see the Rider Information page for pre-ride check in and day of ride check in information- http://www.ediblepedal100.org/rider-information/
My son (15) is interested in the doing the 50 with me. I assume he’s old enough, but didn’t see age info, and on the chance that liability, etc., demands a higher age minimum (like 16), I wanted to check. Thanks!
As long as he is accompanied by an adult, it is ok.
